THE development of a nation is based on the innovations created by its citizens.  By coming up with new ways of realizing things, the well-being of the general public is improved and honor is brought on the country and its people.

This was the rationale behind the honor bestowed by Delsey Paris to three Filipino Innovators in a recent event to launch the French firm's Innovation, a new line of travel gear held at the Atrium of Shangri-La Plaza Mall on January 7. Three contemporary innovators who have championed developments and made significant improvements in their respective fields were named by the firm.

They were Kenneth Cobonpue for his contribution s to the field of design and architecture; Brillante Mendoza, a champion of Filipino cinema; and Rappler's Maria Ressa.

In an interview during the event, seasoned host and TV personality Boy Abunda asked the honorees about their stories of innovation, touching on the challenges and joys they have experienced. In recognition, Delsey awarded them with a commemorative plaque and a limited-edition Delsey luggage.

French Ambassador Gilles Garachon, himself a Delsey user, graced the launch and unveiled a caravan that would be held at various malls to showcase Delsey's Innovation line of luggage.  He was accompanied by Primer Group of Companies CEO Jimmy Thai.

Delsey's Innovations Caravan is a three-month long mall exhibition, which will run in seven major malls in the Philippines. This exhibition will showcase the history of Delsey,  highlight its new luggage innovations and  mall goers a chance to experience the Delsey difference.
